Kinetic Connections is the educational side of the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park. Through Kinetic Connections, teachers and students can make meaningful links between the art of Vollis Simpson and North Carolina education goals and standards. Whether it’s experiencing a Kinetic Connections Teacher Institute or bringing your class on a field trip to the Park, our partners at A+Schools of North Carolina and the Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership work hard to bring the art and science of the Park together in meaningful ways. With funding for educational programming provided by Windgate Charitable Foundation and GlaxoSmithKine’s Ribbon of Hope, educators and students continue to learn about the amazing work of Vollis Simpson in creative and engaging ways.
During this time of social distancing, the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park is still open to the public at this time. In partnership with A+ Schools of North Carolina we are happy to share K-6 grade activity downloads along with a Whirligig Park Bingo Card either for at home downloads or for family field trips to the park.
